The AERI Data Lab is the analytic and informatics hub of the Applied Evidence Research Institute, purpose-built to advance real-world evidence generation in complex clinical domains. We specialize in structuring and interrogating high-dimensional health data to uncover signals that can improve diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes.
Housed within a nonprofit research environment, the Data Lab supports AERI's three strategic verticals:
- ConcoursCorrect: Investigating the real-world epidemiology and patient-level predictors of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) in cancer immunotherapy.
- FASTR: Illuminating diagnostic delays and missed signals in rare and underrecognized diseases, leveraging longitudinal data to inform earlier detection.
- AERI Insights: Providing analytic rigor to the public education and advocacy outputs that define AERI’s knowledge translation and policy work.
Capabilities
- Real-World Data Curation: We work with EHR, claims, registry, and patient-reported data sources to build analyzable cohorts reflecting the complexity of clinical care.
- Phenotype Development: Using rule-based and machine learning methods, we create robust computable phenotypes for conditions, events, and treatment patterns.
- Signal Detection: Our team applies statistical, causal inference, and time-series techniques to identify associations and trajectories often obscured in unstructured or noisy data.
- Data Ethics & Governance: Every project is grounded in rigorous data stewardship, with attention to IRB standards, patient privacy, and responsible use.
Collaborative Model
The AERI Data Lab operates on a collaborative research model. We partner with academic investigators, clinical centers, advocacy organizations, and health systems to:
- Jointly design and execute studies that require complex data analytics
- Support grant development and data strategy for funded research
- Translate findings into actionable tools, publications, and educational resources
